回覆 (1995): European Triode Festival
I have just about recovered from my latest trip where I ended up in Berlin at the European Triode Festival. This is something I have followed for many years thanks to the introduction from Rafal C. Rafal also made the trip to Berlin and it was quite a weekend of Hi Fi. This is different kind of Hi Fi event compared to anything else, this is the hardcore of DIY in Europe. The event is only by invitation and started 12 years ago in Denmark, then Netherlands, then France and now Germany. Each country is hosting for 3 years and then it moves on.

Only 100 places available and I repeat invitation only ! one couple from UK who arrived uninvited were turned back and this has happened on many occasions.

So what can you expect in such events ? well a bunch of hardcore DIYers with a few who have commercial success ......

Frank Schroeder
Thomas Schick - whom we have to thank for the invite
Per Lundahl
Peter Treurniet of Tribute Transformers
Silvercore Transformers Christof Kraus
Morgan Jones - author of "Valve Amplifiers"
Guy Sergeant - Voyd Turntables - now AVID I think
Joe Roberts - Sound Practises - Sibatone US
JC Morrison - of Lab JC

and the list goes on with people you bump into who have history with QUADs and Peter Walker ...... and new people in the audio industry .....

its kind of weird but normal when you mix with these people, share stories, have a laugh and a few beers or 2 !!!

I did not feel intimidated nor did I feel like I just met the messiah of audios in any way ......

enough chit chat lets get on with it !!!

first off I was in Brussels to help pack this EMT 927

at the ETF, I was in time for the SPUD amp shootout

Photobucket

speakers are using Klangfilm compression horns with 2 15inch bass units in horn baffle. These speakers make the Western Electric 15a look like Rogers 3/5a

Sound was smooth and effortless. Not perfect as these things are never turned for a weekend sound, but SIZE MATTERS !!!
