There are an incredible number of very well executed Lencos on Lenco Heaven. The talent is mind blow at times.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Absoutely! And some of the very good looking Lenco rebuild were actually came from our Asian highhands including yourself who made a mark on a good looking functioning Lenco here in Hong Kong.

But then, why cant we have more self styling good looking and proper functioning DIY amps orginated from Asia. People just dont believe in DIY here, right?

Below is one of Thomas Mayer (Germany) DIY creations. I have seen one in HK and in term of circuit and execution, its OK but nothing new. However, overall quality is ......................................you tell me lor!

D,

hey, I saw the double decker, but your slate plinths got me hot, LMAO

Will keep that in mind on the FR64, Thanks D. Only ever had consumer grade stuff, and am slowly (and I mean very very slowly..) getting into slightly better gear now, still a beginner with a lot of questions to ask... :P

MG-1 is very temping, and well priced; it takes some commitment to sort out the pump and tanks; being a lazy bastard that I am, will take sometime to commit... :D

Went thru Thomas website a while back, you think he achieve what he set out to do? To provide a good alternative to used 12inch arms at a half decent price!? How do you find the SPU Synergy with the Schick? and how far behind is a Midas+103R on the same arm?

All beautiful tables, D. How do you keep the boss happy with all those inventories?:) & which one is your daily workhorse?

(Sorry about all the Questions, I am a konfuse young man :D :D :D )

Blessings

William,

If you are coming to Hong Kong, we must meet up ! 8^)

Do note the FR64S is good for low compliance carts, but may fail to sing with other carts.

I have 2 MG-1 tonearms, that is how much I rate them. In the Vinyl world, synergy is everything. Flavour of the month - I am listening to Black Widow with Acutex, Schick G with SPU Synergy and Schick A with SPU Mono

Thanks Daiwok,

Think I wouldn't touch that project, you want me to forward the PM from the european seller? i need a full set of parts, otherwise I would never get it finish..

FR64 or 64S, this depends on what I could pick up in HK next & will go with DL-102 initially, need the vertical compliance (re: your advice on true mono cartiage). I will keep an eye on the MG1, assuming FR64/64s are less fuzzy, and hopfully that would be my next purchase :)

Beautiful tables you got there!, so many 301.... all purchase off ebay, D?

Thanks Daiwok, better not touch this then.

BTW Can the MG1 handle the weight of the DL-102? How was the result?

Got a TD124 coming and really need some advice on this; thinking about either the MG1 or a FR 64 tonearm, which one would you recommend? (chat when you have time, mate; take it easy at work!)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

you can always buy a metal idler, not of course not as cheap as the Lenco sometimes as a package ! EURO 50 is cheap !

The MG-1 can handle the DL102, but you need to add a bit of mass to the counterweight.

FR64 - not FR64S ? the "S" makes a difference ! Anyway, FR64S is a superb match for low compliance carts such as Denon 103 / 103R or the DL 102. However the DL 102 is a great cart to play modern day Stereo, but would be a bit short on performance for true MONO recordings. For true MONO recordings, GE VRII, Fairchild 225A, SPU Type A or Miyajima Premium BE are probably better, but these carts only play on True MONO. Play these carts on Stereo and you will ruin the record for life !

MG-1 is very good for modern day carts with cart weight around 7 to 8g max. The performance is hard to beat for the money !

>>> Hello again Daiwok,

>>> Someone offered me this L75, for 50EUR + shipping on Lencoheaven:

Early L75, ideal for a project

Produced in march 1968, so it is an early L75.
Top sprung plinth in dark wood (mahogany?) that has some marks.
The lid is broken at the back, and the resting leg is broken.
The topplate left rear edge needs the painting redone.
The faceplate is a nice non-brushed aluminium and the knobs are of smooth feeling bakelite.
The mat is smooth, but fails its centre alu plate.
The tonearm is OK, but all AS-things fails. The V-blocks are removed, so new ones are needed.
It is mechanically OK regarding the motor, bearing, linkage and platter.
The plastic idler wheel is non working. It is very hard and noisy and has to be replaced. It takes many revolutions to reach correct speed.
It's a 50 Hz motor.

>>> Need a new idler wheel and a PTP, you got a spare idler wheel you can let go off?

Cheers

William

That is not a cartridge! More like an alien losing a teeth after trying too hard on a human skull with caramel. Actually. it does look like left over oyster sauce spill on a string held baby finger.

I always wonder what kind of string has been used to hold the cantilever of this cartridge.

Over the last 10 years, mono filament fishing lines are slowly but surely replaced by polypropylene strings because of the latter's fast response and non-stretch properties.

If this new tech string is used on the Decca cartridge, would it make the world's fastest and most accurate cartridge?
