You mean separate arm pods ?
-----------
what does arm pods mean? I mean was to have the shaft that the arm slides on supported on both sides. may be it is just me. i don't like things hanging.
i think you should ditch out some serious money to set up a vibration measurement rig^-^ |

wouldn't it better to have the arm suspended on both ends?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You mean separate arm pods ? I am not sure if the difference is audible to be honest. The biggest problem with all turntables is the motor and the bearing. Transfer of the rotation to the platter via any motor is not steady not matter what means, vibration and noise are always transferred. How you control or minimize or damp such noise vibrations is really another issue. However once these factors are dealt with, then the having the tonearm isolated is not an issue anymore, the issue then boils down to the drive of the turntable. To me this is where belt drive turntables show their short comings but of course there are ways to over come with flywheels, large plinths etc to increase inertia and drive. |

What you are looking at is the most ugly looking DIY amp on this planet. I feel shame and silly with the awful hard wood front plate.
It was my second 811 project that also compatable with DET25 which is what you seeing.
Please dont laugh at the size. I actually had a long conversation with Mrs. bobui which ....you dont want to know lor.
Some people do silly things, I do silly amps.

Ken try and listen at 2.25g or that region. The instructions are just a generic guide and a starting point. To fin the sweet spot, you must do you own minor adjustments before finding the sweet spot. I normally track around 2.20g for the MIDAS Denon. |

Ken,
It may well be cantilever bottoming which is uncommon because of a mere 10% rise in force.
It’s advisable hence to check the trackability of your particular cartridge with a test record. It may not need 2.5 gm to track perfectly.
Quality control on cantilevers is something you should learn to suspect always. That’s why I resort to using my last finger when selecting cartridges. At least I could have some idea of whereabouts the compliance is like.

Oh,
Don't know why but when I try to set the cartridge weight to max weight allowed, when it play old and scatched LP it will 折聲. But back to medium weight it will OK. ( eg. if cartridge allow 2.5g +/- 0.3g, if I go to 2.8g it will distorted, it I go to 2.5g it will back to normal.)

U are right, limage. Since desoldering tip I am using is flat in shape, there may still a little chance to touch the vinyl surface. Thus, ball type of nipple is needed, especially for MENkind like us. When there are sexy legs, hope that I can find sexy nipple!

The thread, I suspect, serves more as a cushion rather than a cleaning device. If that is the case, the suction nozzle does not matter as much.

Yes, through gears driven from the same platter motor. It feeds something like 2 ~ 3 mm per LP.

Limage, I turn it 1/4 turn (about 5mm) for every side of lp being cleaned. There is no special mechanism, just apply friction by the screw and nut as shown on my foto. |
