There was a time these were almost given away by the local ABC radio stations.

Should have bought a few when they were far cheaper a few years ago.

Zero tracking error arms have been around time and again but they never seem to make it a commercial success.
Difficulties involve, I opine, are likely to be more demanding than their parallel tracking competitors.

It is obviously based on the Garrard Zero 100

but if the A90 is not enough, you can try a Magic Diamond which is really a Denon 103 in disguise

One pint from daiwok for a LP question!!! Thats fun even I may end up making bobui look like a fool in front of high hands here.

Is to do with the tracking angle which is normally range from 18 to 24 for most cartridges measure from the surface of the record when playing. The idle angle in that photo is incorrect because when at idle, the cantilever should be roughly at right angle with the magnetic coil and the unusal steep angle in that photo would make the bottom of the cartridge touching the record surface by the time you force the the tracking angle to a correct 22 or so and a very high tracking force may be needed if the tip is reading correct on the record groove

I believe the wood is lignum vitae, also known as "ironwood" the most dense wood known to man and is as hardest wood available. This wood has also another special property, when treated properly it is also self lubricating. Because of this the wood is chosen because it can maintain almost self equilibrium during changes on temperature - obviously no dramatic changes and was used in old ship bearings and also clockworks in the past. The brass looking material used on the spindle is probably a sintered bronze which is also known for its self lubricating properties, this metal acts like a sponge and absorbs oil and maintain a film of oil once it has soaked sufficient oil. I guess the idea of the combinations of materials is one of maintaining shape, not using too hard of materials working on each other to ensure a longevity of the the bearing as hard materials working on soft materials will wear in time.

Anyway - this is my take on this as I am not the bearing designer. I guess Sir CP might know more as he has more of a grasp on materials than I do !

Hi daiwok,

Beautiful looking bearing. Why is there a brass/copper ring towards the bottom end of the axle. Does that fit in with a stainless steel ring/bearing deep inside the bearing house? As for the wood, are they just skin effect for resonance or are they form as major parts of the structure?
