if drwkng can add the 20 and 25 hz signals to the midrange tones and we can compare the resulting sound with that of the pure tone
------
i think 25hz makes more sense. i will try to have a track consisting of 500hz and 3Khz with and without 25hz.

' You may skip track 15 and possibly 16 as well. I doubt any system can reproduce those frequencies, and even if it does, it is unlikely anyone can hear them. It tends to be misleading too when people hear their speakers doubling '

It is right that our hearing is far less perfect than the claimed frequency response from 20 to 20K hz. However that frequency range is obtained with pure tone signals. In the real world the sound esp. that from music is complex, so the wave form is much more complicated than a pure tone signal. The existence of low or ultra high frequencies will affect what we perceived in the midrange. It will interesting if drwkng can add the 20 and 25 hz signals to the midrange tones and we can compare the resulting sound with that of the pure tone.

2 dozen? you mean you want 2 dozens of 27D^-^

o.k. let me try to add a few more interesting tracks before i burn in the cd. i'm working on a track right now to pan the signal from left to right. this will show the accuracy of horizontal soundstage. probably do it with few different frequencies as well.

Low frequencies down to 30 Hz can be heard quite easily, even at my age. Below that, it will be felt rather than heard.
I must confess I have absolutely no experience on frequencies below 26 Hz with all the audio systems I've auditioned.

As I remember, the frequency/acoustic below 40Hz may be feel by our skin, not the signal thru' our ears to the brain.....

Pls. correct me if I am wrong.

i just tried them with the my system. i can definitely 'feel' 25hz. 20 hz is a bit iffy. well, they are there for completeness sick.

folks,

i'm making a cd with tracks on different frequency. here is the list of tracks

1. left channel 500 hz
2. right channel 500 hz
3. in phase stereo 100 hz
4. out of phase stereo 100 hz
5. in phase stereo 500 hz
6. out phase stero 500hz
7. in phase stereo 1khz
8. out phase stereo 1 khz
9. in phase stereo 3 khz
10 out phase stero 3 k hz
11 in phase stereo 5 khz
12 out phase stereo 5 khz
13 in phase stereo 10 khz
14. out phase stereo 10 khz
15. 20 hz
16. 25 hz
17. 30 hz
18. 35 hz
19. 40 hz
20. 45 hz
21. 50 hz
22. 51-60 hz
23. 61-70 hz
24. 85 hz
25. 90 hz
another 25 tracks from 100 hz to 22k hz

this cd should be useful to a have quick test of the system especially when it is not possible to carry more elaborate equipment. the measuring device will be your precious ears. the set of in and out of phase signals should be useful to test system by those masochists who like to take a speaker apart and rebuild a super -duper cross-over.

this is originally at the request of charles. if anyone is interested to have a copy, let me know.

Hello Vash, please accept my regrets for missing your Super Sunday DIY Pre-amp Shoot-out. Word-on-the-street is it was a good race with a "Surprise Winner"! I know from your previous gatherings that many of the DIY participants, like drwkng, are very gifted and take great pride in their works. Look forward to seeing more photos of these wonderful DIY creations. BTW, is that a dcs P8 sitting on the rack?

ps: laipanda, I think one of my dinner guest last night knows you and he praised about your work! Nice chassis on the 807PP.

回覆 (706): To. Dear King.....
Is there any possibilities to make a 27D with less control cables ?
-----------
you think 3 cables are too many? you probably know that one cable goes to the power supply so it is not possible to get rid of that. the only possiblity is to combine the two cables from the control unit to the amp unit. those are 15 pin cables. for the normal version of 27D, all 15 pins are being used. granted for the lite version, not all 15 pins are used. in order to do that, we need to redesign the back panels of the control amp and amp unit. it is just not worthwhile doing it. you know the lite version is only a after thought^-^
