As for the Reed, you should try to make your own pivot arm. I will hand over my hard earned..;)

Now that is something I cannot refuse, but once must have the Reed first in order to bench mark one's product ^__* |

Limage,
Your too kind, but I cannot only take a very small credit for the Lenco and nothing else ^__^ The Wicked den has certainly improved week on week since the initial arrival of the Lenco. Once the Lenco was allowed to sit on the king of all turntable standards - the Rockport was given a holiday. That hydraulic antivibration isolation table is really something ! layering, total jet black darkness is unreal. Last week the Kong and I spent 2 houses fiddling and trying to milk out the best we could from the A90 Terminator Lenco Combo. This morning we spent another hour and it seems not only did the breakfast worked, but my asshole is once again hitting stick !!
I have to agree, I am love with the sound at the Wicked den - I am just happy that I got to hear what a wonderful combination this system is
and I too will be dreaming about Ursula or better still Rachel Welch !!! |

I had the chance at long last to listen to the Lenco-Terminator-A90 combo at Kong’s place this morning. Oh boy, this combo takes some beating against the most expensive and exquisite of analogue tables. It speaks not only with great eloquence, but authority that is almost second to none.
Throughout the morning, the sound coming from this system kept reminding me of Ursula Andress in the episode of Dr. No where Ursula emerged out of the water on the beach in her white bikini — sinuously full bodied and devastatingly arresting, irresistible to any mortal soul.

Any room for the TOUCH ? may be an optical illusion but the back end looks a tad lower.
Nice looking Reed ...... I am jealous !!! no matter how many Gold Nuggets I have and I don't have many myself @[email protected]

Sure do but the Touch will be used with another cart till i get the other Touch back from a friend. The back end is a touch low, raised a little today.
Cheers for the compliment Icefox. :)

I have to admit this is one very fine cart. Now dare you want to hear this cart with an air bearing arm and idler wheel ?

Even as crazy as he is, diawok is not too keen on making a plinth for the nude SP10 motor as it would involved a lot of work, so I need to do more convincing. But I just would love to have a plinth similar to this:

Actually this is now becoming more realistic than I thought ^__*

better to take just the motor/platter out and install it in a more rigid plinth

I guess that must be what daiwok is planning to do. The National rice cooker surely deserves a 5 star care at least on par with the best of the idler wheelers.
BTW kong, I had the A90 fine tuned last evening to squeeze a few more drops of nectar. Breathtaking, to say the least!

That is definitely good news for SP10 users. For ultimate performance, I believe it would be even better to take just the motor/platter out and install it in a more rigid plinth, with all the control circuit housed in another box!

There must at least be half a dozen SP-10s from friends out there gathering dust because of this speed anomaly.
If the quartz lock circuit could be combined with the power supply and housed in a small beautiful box similar to that of the Nagra, it should be perfect both aesthetically and practically.
Looking forward to hearing good news from you, mdlover!

good evening limage,
instead of modifying the circuit, i will throw away all the original electronics and use a new controller design.
actually i have a design completed 2 years ago but since i don't own a SP10 personally so i just don't have the motivation to build the damn thing and verify the design.
but i think it's time to start building it because i have just acquired another motor from an old Trio(Kenwood) direct drive TT.
will report here when it's done. :-)
here is the Trio motor, it's quite well built and very similar to the SP10.

Hi morning mdlover,
It's good news to learn that we have friends here who have the experience of fixing National cookers.
Most SP-10 tables go dead just because of one IC chip failure. This IC is apparently responsible for speed control and the pity is that this chip is now no longer available, not even from Mitsushita. Mine has got the same problem and luckily it only happens with 78 rpm which I do not use anyway.
Have you found a good way to get around the problem by modifying the circuit or not?

luckily only a few parts in the PSU blown.
now it's up and running again. :-)
